Last night I was listening to Coast to Coast Radio.

If you know anything about this radio program, you know it is weird. Well I think it is weird, maybe Art Bell doesn’t.

Last night’s subject was “This is the last year of your life”.

This got me thinking, what if it truly was. What would you do?

Would you spend that extra time on your favorite hobby? Some people would I believe. A person needs to do what they enjoy. Some would take a long sea voyage, visit parts of the world they had always wanted to visit, the Pyramids, Great Wall of China. This is the sort of things people were saying last night.

Strange, no-one ever mentioned money.

All I know, money doesn’t grow on trees. Yes we all have a wish and these wishes usually cost money. So what I was thinking, wouldn’t it be terrific if we all had a little extra, extra to do the things we want to do, in what could be …….. “This is the last year of your life”

There are lots of people who wouldn’t change a thing at all, for they are happy with what they are doing, well that is fine, but there are those who have been wanting a change for years, seems now could betheir chance. Not because some silly program was on the radio, no not that. I suppose we are all a little unhappy how the world is today.

I just want to say here and now, believe it or not, but your future is
entirely in your hands.

Maybe this short story will give you some idea of how I am thinking.

When I was a youngster, aged 14, I left
school, in my time and the area of England that is what young ‘uns did.

I lived in County Durham, where the Coal Pits were.

I didn’t work down the pits, I remained on the surface, however over the 7 years I was there, I did go visiting below, and I decided I didn’t fancy working in conditions where the working area was sometimes less than 3 ft high.

Life wasn’t the greatest in my neck of the woods I can tell you, however, little did I realize, one of the pitfalls was, (I didn’t know it at the time) was
with the people I worked and came in contact with.

For those people were forever gripping about something or other.

In England we were allowed to drink at the age of 16, and whenever my friends and I got together it was one long complaining session.

How bad work was, how rotten the grownups were, how this and that, you know what I mean. I guess I didn’t hear one positive thing ever.

Ask yourself, what would that do to a young man. Not much good, you would think.

So please maybe right here, note, don’t mix with people who are forever negative.

Anyway, the years moved on, I left the pits, moved to London, got my act into a better position, got married and had two children.

Bought a business and worked at it for 6 years, then sold it and moved to Canada.

Moved along pretty fast there.

My business was a Poultry Farm, and I had arranged for a job with a Chicken Food Company in Canada, however whae I arrived, the Owner of the Company had taken very ill and there was no job for me.

Here I was alone (for I had left my wife and children in England) with very little money, (around $300.00 if I remember rightly) in a strange land.

Ex Miner, Ex Poultry Farmer, what sort of work really could I do.

I saw an advertisement in the paper, where a company wanted people to demonstrate this brand new machine that had been built by a Company that was working in a Space Project.

Making this short, it turned out to be a vacuum cleaner.

As you can imagine. my spirits were dampened.

However, and this is a big however……….. In this office where the demonstration was been done, there was a kind of atmosphere, there seemed to be something different in this room. It took me a while to recognize it, but it soon was quite clear.

I soon noticed that each of the salesmen who were in that office, were acting differently than I had ever known. They were laughing and kidding each other and most importantly never said one negative word about their work or about any of their demonstrations.

The atmosphere was completely different from anything I had ever known.

I hung around for a while and continued to talk to the salesmen, and I can tell you I had never enjoyed anything in my life so much.

I asked questions of course, and before I left, one of the salesmen handed me a book, and this book completely changed my life.

The book
was Napolean Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”

From that day on, I never wasted one second thinking negative thoughts. Here was a guy, a Miner and Poulty Farmer, scared even to talk to a home owner went on to be the best vacuum salesman in Canada. Was presented a Franchise and built an organization with 35 fully trained salesmen and became the No1
Franchise in Canada.

All
because I understood “Think and Grow Rich”

I have of course moved on. Due to this book and my way of interpreting it I have had my ups and downs, mostly ups. Today, in my 82nd year I market on the web and do very well.
